"How do I know that I'm worthy of love?"

Ya know, some people aren’t going to like you.

Some people won’t even remember who you are or give one shit about you.

Some people will go out of their way to hurt you.

They’ll take pleasure in your pain.

Does that mean you are not deserving of love because some shit head said something bad about you or wishes you ill?

Is their opinion even any of your business?

No way!! Hell no!

Remember my last post where I reminded you to breathe? (If not, go back and breathe with me. ) Together we did the 478 Breath from Andrew Weil.

That there Breath is all the proof you need to know that you are worthy of love.

If you’re breathing you are worthy of love.

If you can fog up a mirror with your breath, you have a one way, first class ticket to the love train.. It was delivered at your birth. Love is your birthright.

You just didn’t know you had it.

Because somewhere you were taught that your worthiness was dependent on what other people thought of you. You were taught that how people treated you determined your worth. Or how you looked. Or how much money you had. Or who you knew. Or what you’ve accomplished blah, blah, blah…

Well that’s just wrong.

Let them think what they will. Let them say what they will about you and love your whole damn self anyway. In fact, love yourself more if you have some haters in your life. That’s it, self love as an act of defiance.

I assure you, you also have some people who love the crap out of you. They’d lay down their lives for you. Here’s the thing, their opinion of you doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things either. Your opinion matters. It all simply doesn’t mean a lick of beans if you aren’t the one who is the president of your own fan club. Or at least vying for the position. I’m talking self love baby.

You are worthy of all the love in the world for the sole reason that you are alive and your breath can fog up a mirror. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT FOG UP A MIRROR TO KNOW YOU ARE WORTHY OF LOVE no matter what anyone says or thinks it about you.

And BTW, from what I’ve heard from others, well, you’re actually doing a bang up job at being a human fogging up all those mirrors every time you get close to them.

Way to go!

Why I love 4 - 7 - 8 Breath

I know we all breathe because we're alive and we're breathing, but we don't pay attention to our breath enough, the length of time of our inhales and exhales, most of us spend much of our day breathing in the top half of our lungs, but if we can pull our breath down into the diaphragm and abdomen it helps in soooo many ways.

Even doing a two-part breath when you breathe in starting with your belly and then pull it up to your chest and then out can quickly change and shift much of your day.

Enjoy this 478 Breath Exercise. I do it most days, even three times a day. I simply set an alarm on my calendar that just says breathe 478.

Wilumina and the Well - Excerpt on Tears

After my mom died in 2015, I was sitting on some rocks, watching the ocean waves come in while on a trip in Nicaragua.

I was crying. I had tears streaming down my face and a big wave came and smashed against the rocks and sprayed just the right side of my face with water, and you know how when you’re crying, you sometimes lick your tears? Well, after the spray landed on my face I licked one side of my mouth and it tasted salty with water from the waves and the other side tasted salty from my tears. I realized that the soul speaks in salt water. If the most primal part of us comes from the ocean, wouldn’t it make sense that our soul would express itself in ocean?

Our soul speaks joy with tears.
Our soul speaks laughter with tears.
Our soul speaks sorrow with tears, and rage with tears…

In fact, every time time we feel something very deeply, our soul speaks in ocean in the form of tears. We’re all just walking around as little oceans. Why not give your soul permission, nay why not celebrate when it speaks up with tears? Isn’t that fucking cool to think about?

"As I sit quietly, doing nothing, Spring comes and grass grows of itself."

"As I sit quietly, doing nothing, Spring comes and grass grows of itself."

Ch'an Ling Chu Chi

What if it was OK to just sit around and do nothing? Would the world stop? What if times for nothingness were actually something? What if the highest achievers were the ones who could sit and do nothing the longest and we could call them "Nature's harmonizers”? What if all of the people racing around here to there and everywhere and our individualist, performance based culture was actually considered unwell? What if the people who were able to sit around and do nothing where the well ones, the esteemed and revered? The ones who people aspire to be more like? I want to live in that world! To allow. To harmonize with nature. To trust in the mutuality of all things.

“In other words, the order of nature is not forced order; it is not the result of laws and commandments which beings are compelled to obey by external violence, for in the Taoist view, there really is no obdurately external world. My inside arises mutually with my outside, and though the two may differ, they cannot be separated. Thus everything‘s "own way" is the "own way" of the universe, of the Tao. Because of the mutual interdependence of all beings, they will harmonize if left alone, and not forced into conformity with some arbitrary, artificial and abstract notion of order, and this harmony will emerge of itself without external compulsion.” Ummmm yes Alan! (The Watercourse Way)

I’m tired of feeling guilt or having to be “sick” in order to justify just doing nothing. Let's lift it up! Exalt doing nothing.

I now have a term for it.

I am harmonizing.

Using Grief as a time for Growth

Deep grief can actually be a fruitful time of growth. It’s how we respond that makes the difference.

Grief clears the channels.
It separates the friends from the “friends”.
It brings families closer
Grief writes the permission slip to put up boundaries.
Grief can stoke your creativity.
It can soften your edges.
Grief can begin a chain of events that will change your life.
And so much more.

If only we could understand that grief isn’t weakness. Grief is the other side love. And if you’re one to love greatly, be prepared to feel enormous grief when that love is lost. We are all going to die…all of us. Every single one of us will experience grief. It comes crashing into your household, into your heart and your mind, whether you want it to or not. Making demands! I will be heard! I will not be denied! I am in control now! I am going to take you to your knees.

How willing you are to be rendered into obedience is the determination of our own suffering. What if we answered grief’s demands with yes? With rest? With gentle care and respect? One loss brings up all the others you didn’t allow yourself to feel. They all come knocking. Every time. So, what if you opened the door of your heart and said to grief, “come in, my love, sit a while. Bring tissues.” What might happen?
